Anders Bergcrantz was born in Malmö, Sweden 1961 and grew up into a musical family. His father Sven Bergcrantz was a well known jazz pianist in the south of Sweden. After 3 years at music high school, 1 year at Berklee College of Music and 2 years at The Malmö Music Conservatory and after 23 years of growing up and living with jazz, Anders started to play professionally although he played gigs already at the age of 15. Soon got a growing reputation and started to get asked for as guest soloist and member of different constellations home and abroad.

Anders Bergcrantz is one of a kind. His big, dark and warm sound is unique. He speaks with his instrument in a lyrical, dramatic, dynamic, and very soulful way. His technique is tremendous. Anders is linked to the legacy of trumpet players like Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Lee Morgan, and Miles Davis....but has strongly found his own personal voice and style. He has played with a great number of jazz stars thru the years. Artists like Billy Harper, Mike Brecker, Benny Golson, Billy Hart, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Adam Nussbaum, Monica Zetterlund, Bobo Stenson, Palle Danielsson, McCoy Tyner....and has performed at places like The Blue Note clubs in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka. Ronnie Scott′s in London, Carnegie Hall, Sweet Basil in NYC, Montreux Jazz festival, Berliner Jazztage, Red Sea festival etc. Anders has received a great number of awards and prizes all along. In 2008 he received, (for the second time!), the foremost swedish jazz award, "THE GOLDEN RECORD" and was awarded "JAZZ MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR". His latest CD "About Time" was voted "BEST CD OF THE YEAR" by The Swedish Radio's listeners.

The Anders Bergcrantz Quartet
is a brand new constellation created in 2008. After performing with the quintet format for many years, Anders returns to his quartet instrumentation; Trumpet-piano-bass & drums. "The Quartet gives the music even more space and openness...more freedom...a chance to develop even further" Says Anders.
