Born in Vienna in 1985, STEFAN STROISSNIG attended his first piano lessons at the age of seven.He completed his studies with Oleg Maisenberg in Vienna and received further artistic advice from Rudolf Kehrer, Dmitri Bashkirov and Vadim Suchanow.
Since the age of eleven Stefan Stroissnig has performed as soloist, chamber musician and with orchestra (among others the Bruckner Orchestra and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne with Okko Kamu) in Europe’s most important concert halls such as the Wiener Musikverein, the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Berlin Philharmonic Hall as well as in Japan and America.
Furthermore he won the first price and the EMCY award at the International Greta Erikson’s Piano Competition in Karlstad (Sweden), and was awarded a price at the International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Ettlingen (Germany). In 2002 Stefan Stroissnig was invited to perform in the finals of the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York and one year later he was finalist of the renowned Clara Haskil Competition in Vevey-Montreux/Switzerland, which was broadcasted live by TV and radio.
In 2003 Stefan Stroissnig, together with Dalibor Karvay (violin) and Milan Karanovic (cello), founded a piano trio, which received the Karajan-Fellowship in Vienna the same year. Only one year later the trio’s debut CD was released on the ORF label. Their chamber music performances have been acclaimed in major European cities such as Rome, Berlin, London and Vienna, and at various festivals around the world.
Moreover, he has been invited to perform at prestigious festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, Piano Festival Ruhr, Rheingau Festival, Music Festival Kyoto, Festival de Divonne-les-Bains, New Artists Series London, Piano Festival of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Mondsee festival and the Carinthian Summer Music Festival. Several radio and TV-recordings reveal his artistic career.
